VIC SMITH TUESDAY NIGHT TRIALS
CHECK IN:
All boats must check in with the race committee on VHF channel “71” before 1745 hrs on the night of the race. Please NO check INS during the starting sequences! R/C will be on station at the transient dock. The “wake up” will be at 17:49.30 hrs and signaled from the race committee by sound and VHF radio, channel 71. The regatta will end at 2000 hrs! Those boats that do not finish will be scored DNF. The race committee may shorten the race due to weather and will make announcements on VHF radio, channel “71” before the wake-up call. WE ASKS THAT AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE RACE, PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF THE FINISH LINE ALLOWING OTHER COMPETITORS FINISH.
ORDER OF START:
There will be three classes, (A)=Performance Class, (B)=Cruising Class-A and (C)=Cruising Class-B. (A) Class will start at 17:55 hrs, (B) will start at 18:00 hrs and (C) will start at 18:05 hrs. If you do not start with your class, you will be scored DNC.
Your start is based on your PHRF rating and will go as follows:
(A): 033 to 100.
(B): 101 to 160.
(C): 161 to xxx.
SCORING:
The race committee will use atomic time on PHRF Time over Time. This is our regular race season so there will be awards given out for this series. Trophies are awarded as follows: 1st place, 2nd place for all classes. Overall winners have two awards given one for 1st and 2nd Place along with perpetual trophy at the end of our season for all classes at our annual awards party. Results will be sent out via electronic mail within 24 hours after the event.
START & FINISH LINE:
This will be an imaginary line from the first White Speed Channel buoy to the first Piling at the four -hour transient guest dock. This is a straight line from the White Speed Channel Buoy and the Piling. Start with the White Speed Channel Buoy on your Starboard side. Finish with the White Speed Channel Buoy to your Port Side.
COURSE:
From the start, proceed to the entrance channel towards the detached breakwater. The line described by the NO SAIL buoys shall be considered as a continuing obstruction and may not be crossed. All Classes will go out the North entrance, keeping clear of the green/red shoal buoys and the NO SAIL buoys passing them to starboard then rounding the detached break wall and heading towards the south entrance of the harbor. All classes will past the detached break wall round the imaginary weather mark N 33.57.547 W 118.28.093 and enter the South entrance keeping away from the shoal buoys and NO SAIL buoys. Proceed down the channel staying inside of the line described by the NO SAIL buoys. Please note that some of the NO SAIL buoys are not on station be sure to stay within the sailing area. As a reminder you cannot “fly” a spinnaker sail inside of the channel. Proceed to the start and finish line. Proximally 30 seconds before your finish, you must announce your approach with a sail number and name of vessel to the R/C on VHS “71.” R/C will be on station to take your time and will signal your finish with a sound.
If R/C decides to shorten the course, they will make an announcement for the following weather mark:
COURSE A: At the starting line proceed down the channel towards the detached break wall staying within the NO SAIL buoys rounding the last NO SAIL buoy on the south side of the channel to port and return to the finish line at Burton Chase Park.
